Still looking

I am still looking for that big sow down in the bottoms. You should see the place I put the fermented corn now. Looks like a backhoe was in there digging. Will take some pictures next time I go back in there. Will have to get a camera back in there to get some more pictures.

1st black powder season

First black powder season ended Sunday with only 3 deer taken. 2 six point bucks & the 1 doe that I got. Saturday when coming back to camp after the morning hunt there was a pickup truck sitting in the road going to came. When I got closer I could see it was a game warden. He stopped me and wanted to see my hunting license. 1st game warden I had seen in camp since I have been hunting down there in 7 years. Come to find out he seen a hunter coming out of the woods with his son and the guys son did not have his orange vest on. (Was one of our new members) Well the game warden wrote the dad a ticket for no vest (He knew better $205.00 fine.) and wanted to know where he was camped. The new member told him and the game warden came to camp & checked everyone in camp. Wanted to know where we cleaned deer, if we checked our own deer, if there was any meat in camp. He was just leaving when he stopped me. These pictures are from the area that I shot the little doe on the 2nd day of black powder season 08. As you can see it is kind of thick. I put out a 2 litter plastic bottle filled with corn for all the critters to play with. I have watched deer kick a bottle around the woods for 20 minutes trying to get all the corn out of the bottle. :>)

Critters in the bottoms

These are a few of the critters that roam my hunting area. I would like to come across the big sow during gun season.

Camp

Aaron & Robert & Willene came with me to set up the camper and spent the night. The boys mostly came for the 4-wheeler rides.

2008 Hunting season

The 2008 hunting season started for me just after the 07 season ended. With the help from my friend Dennis we got a couple food plots plowed & planted in the spring of 08. The food plots did really well but the deer did not seem to like mine and was hitting the one of Dennis' by the condo stand really hard. After the weather warmed up they finally got around to mine and stripped it bare. I hunted the stand by the food plot when black powder season opened but did not see any thing. So I started to hunt my stand down in the bottoms. Got me a little doe on the 2nd day of black powder season down in the bottoms. We have more than just deer in the bottoms.

I fermented some corn and went and found me some hog sign & dug a hole with a post hole digger down to about 3 ft deep filled it with the fermented corn and topped it off with some strawberry jello. The hogs just loved it. The deer kind of like it too!!! More later!
